Discovering Porn...

Fun story - I know a "coed" in THIS one
We went skinny-dipping in Switzerland in 1996
While growing up, my dad had a serious collection of Playboy magazines in the house. I have no doubt that my dad did not, in fact, read it for the articles.

He had a pretty nice collection of nude women stretching from the mid-80s through the mid to late 90s. And through my adolescence I ruined at least one or two of those magazines with my... uh... attention. We'll go with that. Yep. Attention.

Younger than that, however, I remember being at my friend's house and sneaking in and taking his dad's hidden copy or two of Hustler and reading the letters in it. Then running off to the bathroom to measure who had the biggest erection. Not together... one at a time with a ruler. Like civilized kids in rural America. These are my first memories of sex and nudity.

Then came the internet.

Jesus Christ...

I would've probably broken something in my dick if the internet had come out any earlier than it had. I remember waiting a good 30-45 seconds for a blurry, pixelated playmate to download on the monitor before I could rub one out to her... so much easier to clean off a computer monitor than a magazine page. Just FYI...

Now it's available everywhere. All the time. Without even trying to look for it. Even Twitter has copious amounts of porn on it - which I did not expect to be honest.

So what does this do for today's kids? As my children grow up - they'll be able to search any strange, sexual fantasy they can imaging. They won't have to think up their own sordid love affair with Cheetarah in the bathroom on Saturday mornings - it's already out there, on the internet.

And this saddens me.

Where will the imagination be? Where will the self discovery be?

Lady Bourbon and I - at least to my knowledge - don't have any porn in the house. Not a Playboy, Hustler, Playgirl to be found... And I think we should change that.

I think there needs to be something... vanilla... for them to find as they get older. Something for them to look at and have their first experiences with.

Lady Bourbon snuck her mom's Harlequin Romance novels into her room at night and read them while she explored her own budding sexuality. I think this says a great deal about each of us and our sexual desires. She loves reading things and thinking up scenarios - like when she was young, reading these books. And I like to watch and see... just like when I used to leaf through dad's playboys and Victoria's Secret catalogs (also - probably solely responsible for my panty kink)...

The things we come into contact with as children/budding sexual beings leaves a huge imprint on our sexual psyche as an adult - or at least so I imagine. I'm not a shrink and I don't claim to be one. Well, I DO... but not really. These are just the thoughts I have on the subject.

As such - I think Lady Bourbon and I should develop a small smut library that is not-so-well-hidden in our house for our children to "stumble upon" when they reach that age.

What do you think? Yes? No? Am I crazy? Is this wrong?  I don't know!  I just know this is how it worked for me - and we usually go with what we know.

As always - I welcome your comments on the subject.
